At our March 3 meeting, we decided the next topic we will research is Faculty Criteria Documents. For those of you who don't know, these are documents where the path to career progress is spelled out. Aka, what you need to do to get tenure, promotion, merit, and even just to get your yearly career growth increment. This is often called "progress through the ranks".
Specifically, we will look for documents from other universities that have clearly spelled out support for women (if such a thing exists).
I think it is also important to look at how criteria documents can inadvertently discriminate against women. We know this could be the case because women progress through the ranks slower than men (even at our own esteemed institution).
